About Scitech
SciTech is a 3-4 week program which combines scientific research along with cultural and social activities.  It brings together outstanding students from North and South America, Europe, Asia, Israel and many other countries and is intended to challenge even the brightest students.

The Challenge
Participants work either individually or in small groups on a research project of their choice which is supervised by members of the Technion’s research staff. Projects are conducted in the Technion’s many departments of Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine and Architecture and makes use of the state-of-the art research facilities located on campus.

The Fun
Afternoons and evenings are devoted to social and cultural activities. Day and weekend excursions across Israel are conducted, introducing participants to the multifaceted culture and beauty of Israel.

How should be intersted
If you are a science-oriented high-school student in the 11th or 12th grade with a proven record of academic excellence, then the SciTech International Summer Program may be for you.

The program is intended for all those with a keen interest in science and a commitment to high performance standards. Those who can benefit the most from the Technion’s atmosphere of excellence will be selected.

Program Aims
To introduce talented teenagers to research activities in science and technology. To provide teenagers the opportunity to work under the personal supervision of the Technion research staff. To build scientific and cultural bridges with students from other countries. To explore the many facets of Israeli society and history.

What will we do at SciTech?
Participants will work either individually or in small groups on projects from the research interests of the Technion using state of the art facilities available at the Technion. Upon completion, participants will prepare a poster presentation, and oral presentation for the final plenary assembly. At the closing ceremony, each participant will receive a SciTech graduation certificate.
In addition to their research, participants will partake in a social program which will include day and weekend excursions, lectures, movies, sports and cultural activities. The program will also provide opportunities to discover the multifaceted culture and history of Israel

Available projects
SciTech offers projects in two disciplines

  • Medicine/Life Science/Biology
  • Exact science/Engineering

The placement is done by the academic committee, based on your application, the mentors request and other considerations
We cannot guarantee that you will be placed according to your preferences ( as wriiten in your application).
If you do not wish to work with animals (for example: dissecting mice) we guarantee that you will not be placed in such a project.
A week before SciTech begins you will get an email with your assigned research project.

Typical daily schedule
Please note that times may vary:

As part of the social program, there will be day and weekend excursions across Israel.
1 Free time will be spent on the Technion campus.  During this time, the many Technion sports and leisure facilities will be available to the participants. There will also be a “Shabbat on Campus” where participants must remain on campus.
Participants cannot leave the Technion Campus during their free time.
Participants must be in their dorms by curfew.

SciTech Completion
Upon completion of their research projects, participants will present their scientific posters and an oral presentation.
Poster Presentation
The participants’ posters will be displayed in a special exhibition at the closing ceremony of the SciTech program. Judging process will include an honorary committee comprised of senior Technion scientists and invited experts. The committee members will select the best poster in each scientific field.
Oral Presentation
Participants will present their findings before an audience, including all the SciTech participants, mentors, academic staff, and guests. The audience will take part in selecting the best presentation in each scientific field. The winning participants receive an award.

Some further details
Arrival
Participants coming from abroad must have a valid passport and a visa for Israel. A SciTech staff member will be in the Arrivals Hall of the Ben-Gurion International Airport (located after customs) with a “SciTech” sign and will meet all arriving participants on the first day of the program.
When booking a flight please make sure it reaches Israel on the morning of July 24th. If you wish to reach the Technion independently, you will need to be at the Pre academic (“Mechina”) building by 15:00 on July 24th.
Upon arrival to the Technion, SciTech participants will meet their research mentors, team colleagues, social counselors, and will get to know the campus environment.
Excursions
During the program, there will be day and weekend excursions across Israel.
Accomodations
Participants are accomodated in modern, fully-equipped student dormitory apartments.  Each apartment houses 5 rooms, with one participant per room, a kitchen, a dining room, and a bathroom.
Meals
Kosher Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided to all participants by SciTech. Any additional snacks may be purchased by the participants’ own expense. Except for the pool cafeteria, all cafeterias and eateries on the Technion campus are kosher.
